Sir Basil Spence

Britain’s preeminent post-war architect, Basil Spence was a true Scottish modernist.

We designed a travelling exhibition in honour of his achievements – this grew directly from a print piece about Glasgow International Airport, one of his most celebrated buildings.

By maximising production values, we successfully created economical designs without compromising on quality or aesthetics.

Less was more
Featuring period photography by Henk Snoek, the poster series reflects the repetition and versatility of the exhibition setup. A strict typographic treatment overlays the colour-tinted image that was unique to each venue.

On the move
For the mobile exhibit, we collaborated with DO Architecture on modular lightbox units that could be easily reconfigured to fit any environment. These flexible displays were constructed for smooth transport and quick installation.
Creating content
Preceding the exhibit, we were entrusted to
gather recollections from former Glasgow Airport staff and repackage their memories into a retro
in-flight magazine.

Our info workshops were critical in concept development for the printed piece, which was distributed free to the travelling public.

Originally a local collaboration between several organisations and creative individuals, the
project eventually mushroomed into the full-scale touring exhibition.
