Gowkthrapple
Located in North Lanarkshire, Gowkthrapple is recognised for its rich mining and steel-working heritage. To counteract post-industrial decline, organisations and local residents continue their work in improving facilities, housing stock and employment opportunities.
A new community centre – designed by Collective Architecture – features our design in a single external section. The repeating pattern, derived from the iron ore found across the area, invokes the tradition and ethos of local industry. Done entirely in relief, the four-metre high, precast panels give the building a robust and flexible appearance that inspires warmth and engagement.
